Just saw this this clip on Crooks and Liars and thought that I might pass it along. It does a great job of showing the difference between fiscal conservatives and the rest of the conscientious human race on a simple hypothetical question....if you could be any person in the past who would you be?
I know that it's an old clip, but I offer it to celebrate Franken's almost imminent seating as the new junior Senator from the state of Minnesota.
First of all, this video is from the Connecticut Forum in early 2007. Don't know much of the context, but it shows Franken at his witty best in debate/combat, a more than welcome addition as our 58th dem in the senate.

fades in to Coulter: ...that I admired the most, and that I think had the most fun, and that of course would be, for readers of my latest book, Joe McCarthy.
We had....we had...
[cackles from the crowd]
Moderator: Always a popular favorite, yeah.
Coulter: A different way of approaching it would be who could have changed history in a very important way....ummmmm....I would want to be FDR so that I could not introduce the new deal.
[mix of applause and boos from the crowd]
Franken: Uh, I would be Hitler...(looking incredulous)
[laughter from the audience]
Moderator: Another popular favorite.
Franken: Well, you know, you get to call off the New Deal, I'd like to call off the Holocaust, you know, World War II, the Anschluss,...but I'd keep the Volkswagen.

I have always loved Franken's comedy...from Franken & Davis and Saturday Night Live, and I look forward to his ability to interject truth via comedic jabs in the crustiest political body in the country.
Go Franken!
